Bricks and Mortar is the second part of a series of video works produced by Default Collective that responds to the Anzac Square Arcade shopfront. Following on from the first work, Platform, which focused on the aesthetic of the screens that populate the adjoining Central Station, Bricks and Mortar turns attention to the physical space of the shopfront. Through a simple gesture, the space is present and mediated as the work extends beyond the screen to incorporate the shop and its surrounding context.
This work formed part of the Shop Front project that inaugurated Kuiper Projects.
